-
You must ask your landlord to make repairs.
That request should always be in writing and dated.
You should ask for immediate repairs if the
condition is serious, such as no heat, no hot water,
or no electricity.
You should give the landlord 14 days to make repairs
if the condition is not serious, such as peeling
paint, inadequate water pressure, or defective
stove.
- If your landlord fails or refuses to make
repairs, you need to phone us to learn how to:
• get the repairs made
• reduce your rent legally
• have us inspect your apartment for other
needed repairs
• if necessary, break your lease legally
DO NOT TAKE ACTION ON YOUR
OWN!
If you do not follow proper procedures, your
landlord can evict you for failure to pay the full
rent.
We can help you with those procedures. Before
exercising your rights, you should get our
experienced assistance.
